The streets of Durban were recently abuzz and social media ablaze when the taxis took special trip to uMhlanga for a protest.
For the day, the fancy sports cars could not speed down the spotless streets, joggers chose a different route as the taxis set up roadblocks on all roads leading up to and around the Oceans Mall.
All ended well with promises to clear the road and sidewalks and begin the talks.
On Friday, 13th October 2023, Santaco and the Oceans Mall management team embarked on a site visit organised by eThekwini Transport Authority.
The meeting aimed to discuss if the site would accommodate 120 taxi holding bays and 90 ranking bays within uMhlanga precinct.
