National police commissioner Gereral Fanie Masemola has deployed another 300 public order police in KwaZulu-Natal as more threats of possible violence gain traction.
Speaking at a send-off parade in Harrismith, General Masemola who couldn’t divulge what he called “sensitive” intelligence information said the extra 300 members will ensure that there is stability in the province.
More members of the SAPS were deployed 200 police in May ahead of the elections in the areas that were regarded as hotspots to calm the situation.
The electorate chose the newely formed uMkhonto Wesizwe party led by Jacob Zuma in the province but many members of the party are not happy with how the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) handled the elections. The MK has also threatened to even boycott the first parliament sitting.
In KwaZulu-Natal, the MK got 37 seats followed by the IFP with 15 seats while the ANC received 14 seats. The DA receiced 11 seats and the NFP only received 1 seat.
There are rumours that all the political parties could enter into a coalition to oust the new kid on the block. They can overtake the MK whoch has 37 seatsas they make 41 seats.
If the IFP enter into a coalition with the MK party they could make 52 seats.
Masemola thanked the voters and communities for conducting themselves in an orderly and responsible manner.
“We hope this will prevail. Those who step out of line will be dealt with, ” said Masemola.
