IFP’s Thami Ntuli elected as KZN Premier

Inkatha Freedom Party’s (IFP’s) Thami Ntuli has assured the people of KwaZulu-Natal has assured the people of the province that his government will do everything in its power to serve the people of the province as he is aware that many people are impoverished and eager to see change.

Addressing the media briefly, Ntuli said he is familiar with the local governance and he is hopeful that his experience will add value in especially solving issues in eThekwini and uMsunduzi Municipality.  

“One is humbled to be appointed by the people of KwaZulu-Natal to lead this province. I know that it’s not something one can take lightly. I understand the mammoth task ahead including the challenges that the people of KwaZulu-Natal are faced with. I know that as we are seated here, celebrating the success of the election of the three office bearers in KwaZulu-Natal there are women and men who are seated at home do not have something to put in the stomach for the day, and that is a task we are faced with, ” said Ntuli.

He said he is ware that the graduates are also looking forward to having a prosperous future while there are people who are are affected by the issues of social ills and crime. 

Ntuli has already resigned as King Cetshwayo Municipality prior to accepting the post.

He will be sworn in officially on Tuesday at the KZN Legislature.

For the position of Speaker, the province re-elected  Nontembeko Boyce. She has served as Speaker since 2022 May 2019, having joined the legislature in May 2014.
