The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) has said that it is pleased that the 7th administration has partially achieved it’s mandate following the appointment of women in key positions in parliament.
Thoko Didiza was elected as the National Assembly Speaker and the Deputy Speaker is Democratic Alliance’s (DA’s) Dr Annellie Lotriet.
Additionally. the ANCWL is ecstatic by the appointment of it’s first female Premier Phophi Ramathuba.
Meanwhile, the National Council of Provinces also elected former Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane unopposed as it’s Chairperson.
Secretary General of the ANCWL Secretary Nokuthiula Nqaba said they appluad and take pride and acknowledgement in the preservation ans acknowledgement of women’s capacity to lead..
“We also commend the provinces or Gauteng, North-West and Mpumalanga for adhering to the gender parity valled by the ANCWL 12th National Executive, which advocate for genfer parity in the composition of legislature and the executive of government,” ‘said Nqaba.
She acknowledged that although they are delighted by these appointments, they have their own work cut out in the fight for women emancipation.
