Former Ethekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has been criticized and labeled as a worse Mayor of this municipality by social media uses.
They say he left a legacy of poop and decay.
Such as letting sewage spill onto beaches to the point of rendering them unsafe for swimming, power outage in some part of the city, water shortage and cut off of water for many days, garbage not collected as well as blaming residents from the Eastern Cape for the eThekwini metro’s budget shortfall.
Citizens believe Kaunda will be remembered as the worst mayor in the City’s history and he destroyed eThekwini Municipality.
@KobusKoekemoer took on to social media X and wrote ANC of Ramaphosa decided to move him to the provincial government instead of allowing him to be a normal councillor or fire him.

However, Kaunda says he achieved many successes including settling the Eskom Debt and securing political stability in the municipality
“We have never received anything below unqualified audit opinion, what does that mean, its good governance. So, I am leaving that record behind. I am not leaving a municipality that’s about to collapse. I am not leaving the municipality that’s going to fail to pay its employees. I am not leaving the municipality that’s failing to meet its mandate obligations.”
