KZN Premier Thami Ntuli says Dundee July has potential of increasing job creation, attracting investors

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has commended the province’s Department of Sports, Arts and Culture for delivering a well organised 19th Dundee July Traditional horseracing event which he said has a potential of increasing job creation.

The Premier attended the race at Endumeni Racetrack in Dundee, on Saturday which he said was competing with the popular Durban July event as it attracted different racial groups as well as the people from as far as Lesotho.

The Premier said it was impressive to see the fashion that was showcased by the local fashion designers.

‘This is one of a kind horserace compared to King Cetshwayo Horserace. The preparations were thorough in all aspects because there is perfection. When you look at the fashion show which I have seen, I witnessed the state of the art fashion as we normally see abroad in a deep rural area such as Dundee, ” said Ntuli.

The Premier outlined that the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) MEC Reverend. Musa Zondi has already visited industrial areas with a hope of reviving them as his government intends to open new opportunities for the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

Premier Ntuli said this event should be elevated by making sure that the tourism sector, vendors and the small businesses from Umzinyathi and Amajuba areas also benefit.

He is hopeful that the event will also open investment corridors in the coming future so that people will not always flock into the big cities for better opportunities.
