Triple Murder shocks KwaMashu Community

A gruesome discovery was made this morning in KwaMashu Section M, KZN, when three bodies were found with execution-style gunshot wounds. Police have confirmed that the suspects are still at large. Zwelibi Msomi, a family member of one of the victims, shared that the bodies were discovered outside Durban, in Section M. Msomi explained that he received a call this morning, which led him to the scene where he identified one of the victims as his son. The other two victims were reportedly neighbors. While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, Msomi speculated that the victims may have been involved in a fight or mugging before their deaths. The police investigation is ongoing. The triple murder has shocked the local community, which is already grappling with concerns over rising crime rates. Community activist Siphamandla Mazibuko expressed alarm over the recent spike in violence, pointing to a recent incident in Bhambayi where five people were killed. Mazibuko called for urgent action to address the growing crime problem in the area. In response, SAPS Inanda confirmed that they are investigating the triple murder and are doing everything possible to identify the suspects. They have urged the community to assist with any information that could help bring those responsible to justice. The police also reassured residents that they are increasing patrols in response to the recent violence. The tragic event has further intensified calls for heightened police presence and swift action to curb the rising crime in the area, as locals fear for their safety. The community remains in shock as they await answers, hoping that justice will soon be served.

SANTACO Launches “Hlokomele” Operation to Ensure Safe Back to School Commutes

The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has launched its “Hlokomele” operation to ensure a safe commute for learners returning to school. This initiative focuses on reducing accidents and crimes involving taxis during the back-to-school period. SANTACO aims to address the safety of learners who rely on taxis for transportation. The operation is designed to enhance security and ensure that taxis operate responsibly. This includes enforcing stricter safety protocols, such as regular vehicle inspections, ensuring drivers adhere to speed limits, and providing adequate training for taxi operators. The initiative also seeks to reduce incidents of crime, such as robberies and assaults, by increasing police presence and coordination with local law enforcement. Taxi drivers will be reminded to avoid dangerous driving behaviors like overloading and reckless speeding, which often lead to accidents. SANTACO emphasizes that learners’ safety is a top priority, and all taxi operators must uphold the highest standards of care. In addition to addressing safety concerns, the operation aims to improve the overall quality of service for learners. It focuses on ensuring that taxis operate on time, providing a reliable and consistent service for schoolchildren. The initiative is also working to promote better relationships between taxi drivers, passengers, and communities to foster a sense of security. SANTACO’s “Hlokomele” operation is a timely and important response to the increased demand for transportation during the school year. By prioritizing the safety of learners, the initiative not only helps ensure smooth commutes but also works to build a safer and more responsible taxi industry. Through these efforts, SANTACO hopes to contribute to a safer environment for schoolchildren and the broader public. In conclusion, the “Hlokomele” operation reflects SANTACO’s commitment to improving public transportation safety, particularly for vulnerable schoolgoers during the busy back-to-school period. Taxi operators and drivers will work closely with law enforcement agencies to guarantee the safety of passengers.

JG Zuma High School Sets the Bar High and Celebrates Top Achiever Naledi Mchunu’s Success

JG Zuma High School in KwaMashu has once again proven its excellence, achieving a remarkable 99.5% pass rate in the 2024 matric results, contributing to KwaZulu-Natal’s impressive third-place ranking in the province. Principal Mthembu, beaming with pride, highlighted the school’s outstanding performance and set a shining example for future learners. Among the school’s top achievers was Naledi Mchunu, who not only passed with four distinctions but has also earned a prestigious invitation to the MEC’s Breakfast for the Class of 2024 Excellence and Awards. Her hard work and dedication have become a beacon of inspiration for other learners, with Principal Mthembu urging the next classes to follow in Naledi’s footsteps. “Her achievements demonstrate that with focus, determination, and the right support, every student can reach for greatness,” said Mthembu. JG Zuma High School’s overall performance this year is nothing short of impressive: out of 187 matriculants, 164 received bachelor passes, 20 earned diplomas, and only three obtained higher certificates. These results are a testament to the commitment of the school’s educators, students, and the local community, defying the challenges often faced by township schools. As Principal Mthembu proudly points out, JG Zuma is proving that excellence is not bound by location but by ambition and hard work. He encourages the Class of 2025 to continue raising the bar and aiming higher, just as Naledi Mchunu has done. The school’s vision is clear – to produce even more future leaders who will continue to bring pride to KwaMashu and beyond.
