JG Zuma High School Sets the Bar High and Celebrates Top Achiever Naledi Mchunu’s Success

JG Zuma High School in KwaMashu has once again proven its excellence, achieving a remarkable 99.5% pass rate in the 2024 matric results, contributing to KwaZulu-Natal’s impressive third-place ranking in the province. Principal Mthembu, beaming with pride, highlighted the school’s outstanding performance and set a shining example for future learners. Among the school’s top achievers was Naledi Mchunu, who not only passed with four distinctions but has also earned a prestigious invitation to the MEC’s Breakfast for the Class of 2024 Excellence and Awards. Her hard work and dedication have become a beacon of inspiration for other learners, with Principal Mthembu urging the next classes to follow in Naledi’s footsteps. “Her achievements demonstrate that with focus, determination, and the right support, every student can reach for greatness,” said Mthembu. JG Zuma High School’s overall performance this year is nothing short of impressive: out of 187 matriculants, 164 received bachelor passes, 20 earned diplomas, and only three obtained higher certificates. These results are a testament to the commitment of the school’s educators, students, and the local community, defying the challenges often faced by township schools. As Principal Mthembu proudly points out, JG Zuma is proving that excellence is not bound by location but by ambition and hard work. He encourages the Class of 2025 to continue raising the bar and aiming higher, just as Naledi Mchunu has done. The school’s vision is clear – to produce even more future leaders who will continue to bring pride to KwaMashu and beyond.

Court rules in favor of uMkhonto

Its a little over a month before South Africans go to the polls it is getting tense for political parties as they look to secure votes from fellow South Africans. For the first time in the countries history candidates not alligneed to any political party( independent candidates) are giving to contest for National and Provincial elections. With the 52 parties that will be on the ballot paper uMkhonto Wesizwe had emerged as strong rivary of the ANC ahead of the elections next month especially in KwaZulu Natal. After saying that “it will be a betrayal for him to vote and campain for the ANC of President of Cyril Ramaphosa” former president Jacob Zuma has formed his own political party Umkhonto Wesizwe(Spear of the Nation). Umkhonto Wesizwe is one of progresing party formed on the 7th of September 2023. The ANC has since been taking this political party to court for using their name and logo. The MK is a paramilitary wing of the ANC founded by former president Nelson Mandela on the 16th of December 1961 with a mission to fight against the South African government during apartheid.  The Durban High Court has made a ruling after the ANC filled claims of “copyright infingement” against the MK. This legal battle has concluded in the Durban High Court after both parties waited for weeks. The African Nation Congress(ANC) has since lost another legal battle against the MK party after the loss in Johannesburg Electoral Court  when it was found that there was nothing irregular about the party and can contest for the upcoming elections. this all happend after an objection made that Mr Zuma was not eligible to be on the ballot paper because he was convicted for more than 12 months by the constitutional court. After ruling the is nothing irregular about the party the MK party has since asked the IEC that Mr Zuma’s face be on the ballot paper.  Let us hear your opinion was the judge right by ruling n the favor of uMkhonto Wesizwe??….

Calls to Support Local E-Hailing Services

SANTACO officials are calling on the South African government and commuters to support local e-hailing services, namely: Teksi Ride, Shuma and Yo!Taxi. Speaking at the SANTACO KZN Second Annual Business Summit held at the Durban International Convention Centre, Mr. Sizwe Mvubu, Chairperson for the Metre Taxis within the organisation said it is difficult for them to compete with foreign e-hailing services due to financial constraints.  “Foreign e-hailing services are subsidised by their governments, hence they have many promotions and specials which we can’t afford. Secondly, we are regulated by our government in terms of the minimum fee we can charge which isn’t the case with the foreign services. The commuters will obviously choose the cheaper options” he said.  Deputy Chairperson for Metre Taxis in the eThekwini Metro, Mr. Vijay Mothilal echoed the same sentiments. Watch the full interview below:  @hlokomela_kzn SANTACO Meter Taxis officials give us an insight into their future plans. They also discuss their different e-hailing services. #TeksiRide #SANTACOKZN #WeAreBuilding #Siyakha #Welcome2TheFuture #SANTACOcares #TransportMonth2023 #VoiceOnTheMoveRadio #HlokomelaKZN #MeterTaxi #YoTaxi #Hlokomela ♬ Female Vo / Impressive / EDM Instrument Loop 2(1247532) – Leano
